Today’s “Wish This Were My Idea” Award

Just a quick post to point you to the Daily Green’s Thirty Days to a Greener Diet page. From ditching high fructose corn syrup, to picking your own, to following the Environmental Working Group’s “Dirty Dozen” list about which fruits and veggies are most important to buy organic, this page is gonna’ help you help you ditch the processed foods, and embrace real food, in a mere month. Nice pictures, good links, and I wish I’d thought of it first.

By the way, today — April 7 — is my favorite holiday of all: No Housework Day!

Wait. Every day is No Housework Day in my house. But maybe it’s a special day for you. To celebrate the occasion? You can send an e-card featuring some hunky fellas. Come on, you know you wanna’.

Aw, I was totally onboard until I got to Day 22. Whole grains, yes! Whole wheat pasta, OMG NO NEVER.

Kristen – I’m curious. Is your NO NEVER aversion to whole wheat pasta based on taste? Something else? Do tell.

Hi! I love your blog! I’m doing a similar thing on my blog, based on the name of your blog…it’s called the Clean Your Plate Series and I am going through all the same things you mentioned above…but at a slower pace for people like me with three kids who can’t afford (financially or mentally) to throw everything in the cabinets away and start over! I think I’ll do about one per week or so. Anyway, thanks for the yummy recipes!

Thanks for the link – I really liked the top 12 foods you should be buying organic list…

It’s the taste *and* texture, actually. I’m not anti-whole grain — I do really WANT to like whole wheat pasta, but it always tastes/feels like boiled cardboard.

I wish I had seen this sooner.

I would have loved to have claimed yesterday on the no-housework holiday list:)

Whole wheat pasta: acquired taste I now find interesting. Try DeBoles.

I’m not sure if brown rice counts but we like a pasta called tinkyada. The packaging looks really fruity but it keeps that nice al dente texture. And it comes in many different shapes that the kid likes.
